About The Club

Proud to be part of Brisbane’s sports and leisure scene for over 60 years.

Started with cricket in 1959 but now so much more. Contact Us →

For more than 60 years the Queensland Cricketers’ Club has been the premier place in Brisbane for lovers of sport to unite. The place to enjoy cricket, AFL, unbeatable views and a great social environment.

It all started with a group called the ‘Ginger Group’ who were members of the Queensland Cricket Association Executive.

The ‘Ginger Group’ hatched a plan over drinks at the Brisbane Hotel in Wharf Street to create a licensed club for like-minded people with a mutual love of Cricket.

A committee was formed and the Queensland Cricketers’ Club journey began.

Key players included Clem Jones, who became Lord Mayor of Brisbane two years later, Norm McMahon, later Chairman of the Queensland Cricket Association, Roy Richards and Frank Malone.

They needed 300 members to form under the prevailing liquor licensing laws. The quota was easily reached and on October 29, 1959, the Queensland Cricketers’ Club was launched.

The original premises opened the following year on the top floor of the Sir Leslie Wilson Pavilion at the Gabba, approximately where Gate 6 is now on Vulture Street.

This remained the home of the Club for nearly forty years when the 1998 ground redevelopment saw it demolished.

Today’s stunning premises on level three of the northern stand have housed the Club ever since. Sports fans have witnessed incredible action over the years from our exclusive stadium seats and fully glass-fronted facilities. Our breathtaking views have seen us become the most unique function venue around the Brisbane CBD. Our prestigious restaurant hosts the best fine dining in Brisbane.

It started with cricket but grew to so much more. Today, it’s more than cricket… it’s Australia’s premier business and leisure lifestyle club.
