Help the Qld Cricketers’ Club Secure a Permanent Residence within Victoria Park Stadium
The Queensland Cricketers’ Club is not simply a hospitality venue — it is a Queensland institution. Founded more than 67 years ago, the Club has been an integral part of the sporting and cultural fabric of our state long before Brisbane was selected as an Olympic city, before major sporting events became economic drivers, and before stadiums became multi-purpose entertainment precincts.
The Club has endured and prospered through changing economic cycles, demographic shifts, sporting evolutions, and profound societal change. Many proud institutions across Queensland and Australia have disappeared over this period. Clubs once regarded as untouchable have fallen victim to shifting circumstances. The Queensland Cricketers’ Club has survived, adapted, and continued to thrive.
This resilience has not occurred by chance. It has been built through the sustained efforts of hundreds of volunteers, committee members, directors, presidents, life members, staff, and members who have collectively dedicated thousands of hours across seven decades. Men and women from all walks of life have invested their expertise, passion, and personal time to create a sustainable organisation designed not merely to survive, but to endure permanently.
Generational Legacy
Beyond its contribution to sport and business, the Queensland Cricketers’ Club has become woven into the extended story of many Queensland families. Countless celebrations, gatherings, milestones, and memorable occasions have been shared across generations within the Club’s walls. It provides a welcoming environment where multiple generations come together and share experiences that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Charitable Contribution
Successive Boards, Executive Committees, and members have dedicated significant effort to supporting community organisations and fundraising initiatives throughout Queensland. These contributions have been made without expectation of personal financial reward or public recognition — they reflect the Club’s enduring belief in giving back to the community that has sustained it. This commitment reflects the very best of Queensland values.
The Club provides its world-class expertise in hospitality and function and event management to contribute in payment and in kind to the work of charities, schools and grassroots sporting organisations.
At a local level, the Club provides weekly food and milk deliveries to nearby Emmanuel City Mission to help feed homeless and vulnerable people, and supports fundraising through events at its function centre.
Year Round Activation
The Club’s role extends significantly beyond match days. Unlike many venue operators that depend heavily upon major events for their viability, the Queensland Cricketers’ Club activates its facilities throughout the entire year. It provides a genuine 12-month calendar of activity through sporting functions, business events, corporate hospitality, community gatherings, charitable initiatives, member experiences, networking events, and social occasions.
The QCC has a vision for an expanded entertainment precinct that can cater to the needs of tourists and visitors who regularly come to the Club just to see the famous Olympic stadium. As well as in house cafes and restaurants, this offering could include QCC operating stadium tours, a Queensland Sports Museum and Hall of Fame, and the continuation of our collaboration with the Aussie Athlete Fund so that the Olympics and Paralympics venue can become a permanent spiritual home for our Games heroes.
Cultural Standing and Ambassadorial Role
The Queensland Cricketers’ Club has cultivated a culture that is welcoming, respectful, professional, inclusive, and distinctly Queensland in character. It is a culture that members are proud to be associated with and one that visitors remember long after they leave. That culture should be recognised as a valuable and intangible asset to the future Victoria Park Olympic Stadium.
The Club’s membership includes sporting legends, business leaders, community contributors, and respected Queenslanders from all sectors of public life. Collectively, these individuals help promote Queensland and contribute to its reputation both nationally and internationally. The Club is recognised well beyond the boundaries of Brisbane and has hosted some of the most distinguished names in cricket, Australian rules football, business, government, and public life.
Many of these individuals retain a strong and proud connection to the Club and continue to speak highly of their experiences. The opportunity to welcome them to a new home within a world-class Olympic stadium presents a compelling prospect to showcase Queensland at its very best on an international stage.
